New applications require a non-refundable application charge upon submission. Upon accepting an apartment assignment offer, new applicants will be required to pay a housing deposit that will be used to offset any applicable damage charges that may occur after vacating. Credit or debit card payments are accepted. Applicants who are eligible for enrollment deferral, including those who are Pell Grant Eligible, receive an automatic waiver.
Applicants who accept an apartment assignment and then cancel are subject to breakage charges of up to $1,500. A breakage charge of $1,500 will also be assessed to any resident who vacates their apartment prior to the end of the term (except for an approved academic reason such as graduation, study abroad, or a required internship). Applicants who fail to provide notice of assignment cancellation prior to move-in will also be subject to a $500 No Show Charge in addition to a breakage charge.
Deposits are refunded to the University account of all non-returning residents within 60 days of checkout from University Housing facilities, after damages are assessed (if applicable).
Deposit refunds are credited to your CSU account. After any other University charges are processed, if you are still owed a refund you will receive a refund via direct deposit or check to your mailing address (students may sign-up for direct deposit on RamWeb). More information regarding refunds can be found here.
