Alleviate Stress from Living with a Food Allergy or Intolerance
CSU Residential Dining Services understands that eating away from home with food allergies and intolerances can be very challenging and often stressful. In order to make it easier on students living on-campus and eating in our dining centers, we strive to provide a wide variety of options for all dietary considerations while making reasonable accommodations for individuals.
Included in our online menus we list the complete ingredient list for the majority of foods we serve. This information is provided to us directly by the food manufacturer. We also flag the Top 9 Allergens and Gluten for each food containing these ingredients. Go to csumenus.nutrislice.com to check out how the menus work.
Common Allergen Labeling
At each serving station in the dining centers we label foods that contain any of the Top 9 Allergens with the following symbols. Those food items marked with the cross-contact risk label indicate that due to the nature of the cooking process, there is a possibility of an unintended presence of an allergen in the food. Refer to the ingredient list of the menu item for specific details. It is up to you to make your own risk assessment and to decide whether or not it is safe for you to consume the food.
NOTE: We are unable to display Top 9 allergen labels directly on our GrubHub menus. However, full dietary and allergen information is available through our online menu system, Nutrislice. When possible, we include common allergens in the item name, but this isn’t always feasible—so please review labels and ingredients on Nutrislice before placing your GrubHub order.
Good To Know
We do not serve loose peanuts or cook foods in peanut oil in the dining centers. We do provide peanut butter and serve desserts containing peanuts but separate and label these items clearly.

Most baked goods are prepared in our on-campus bakery. While we take extensive precautions to minimize cross-contact with nut-containing items, all products are made in the same facility.
Each dining center offers dairy-free alternatives, including non-dairy milks, cheeses, and desserts
Our culinary and service staff are trained to understand specific food allergies and intolerances to help make reasonable accommodations for individual students.
Allergy Friendly Pantry
Each All-You-Care-to-Eat dining center features an Allergy Friendly Pantry, offering a variety of options to support different dietary needs. This includes sauces, condiments, alternative dairy foods, Top 9 free breads, etc.

We respect all religious dietary practices and aim to serve the needs of our customers who follow Halal and Kosher diets.

Halal
When possible, we serve certified Halal meats. Customers can find these options by filtering our online menu system for Certified Halal or looking for the teal-colored Halal circle on our digital menu signs. Certified Halal chicken and beef will most often be available to order during the lunch and dinner periods in the Durrell Dining Center but can also be found in the Pitkin Pizzeria and many Made on Campus meals from our central production kitchen in our Marketplace and Minimarkets.
Kosher
The Foundry Dining Center hosts the Kosher Bistro, a certified kosher dining venue that operates under the strictest orthodox Rabbinical supervision that upholds the highest standards of kosher. Whenever the Kosher Bistro is open, a kosher supervisor, known as a Mashgiach, is there to observe and prepare foods to make sure the kosher standards are maintained. The daily menu varies to offer as much variety as possible. We do not label items that contain pork on the digital menu signs in our dining centers, but you can filter for pork using the Nutrislice app or our online menu system.

Plant Based
We also serve a wide variety of plant-based options that meet the Halal standards. They can be found by looking for the green circles on the menu, indicating a vegan or vegetarian item.
In every dining center, you will find our Eat Well Crew – just look for the staff wearing Aggie orange EWC hats and/or aprons.
These approachable and knowledgeable team members are available to answer questions about safely navigating the dining centers. They can also assist by plating meals from food that has not been on the serving line, helping to significantly reduce the risk of cross-contact with allergens.
Due to the high number of customers with dietary restrictions, we cannot prepare custom meals for those with allergy restrictions . However, we have found that the Eat Well Crew helps safely meet most special dietary needs while still providing options for locations and menus.
