About Us

Housing & Dining Services (HDS) is responsible for the management, finance, administration, and program development of all University Housing facilities, including 4 university apartment communities & 15 residences halls (over 7,500 student residents). HDS is also the largest department on campus, employing approximately 1,750 people. Of those, approximately 400 are full-time employees and 1,350 are students and hourly staff. We focus on creating safe communities centered on connections, diversity and social justice, student leadership, learning, and professional development.

We strive to create vibrant and inclusive communities throughout students’ on campus housing experience which enhance learning, personal and social growth, and global engagement.

University Housing operates under a residential curriculum model titled “Live and Learn,” which is currently only focused in our residence halls. Our educational priority and learning outcomes can be seen below. We are currently in the process of re-evaluating this model to determine the future application for all of our students living in University Housing. University Housing is dynamic team of 50 full-time employees and over 300 student employees:

  • 10 Leadership team members, including the Director, 2 Associate Directors, 6 Assistant Directors, and 1 Program Manager
  • 11 Coordinators
  • 12 Residence Directors and 2 Resident Managers
  • 13 Assistant Residence Directors and 5 Assistant Residence Managers (graduate students)
  • 187 live-in Resident Assistants for the Residence Halls(paraprofessional staff)
  • 33 Community Coordinators and 3 Family Program Coordinators (paraprofessional staff)
  • 12 Community Desk Managers (paraprofessional staff)
  • 13 live-in Inclusive Community Assistants for the Residence Halls (paraprofessional staff)
  • 14 Residential Leadership Program Staff for the Residence Halls (paraprofessional staff)
  • 250+ Desk Staff and Office Assistants for the Apartment and Residence Hall front desks (paraprofessional staff)

University Housing Organizational Chart

We house many Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) throughout our Residence Halls. Our RLCs are co-sponsored programs with University Housing and faculty or academic partners. Many RLCs include a course component that participating students take as a common experience. Learn more on our Learning Communities website.
