Preparing for Move-In
- If you haven’t already done so, pick up your RamCard (student ID) at the RamCard office in room 271 Lory Student Center when you arrive. The RamCard office hours are weekdays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bring a physical copy of a valid, U.S. government-issued photo ID or a passport from any country. All CSU students are required to have a RamCard and need it to access their on-campus meal plan as well as other campus services.
- Consider your transportation options. There are many great transportation options available to get around town without the use of a motor vehicle. If you’re planning on bringing a vehicle, spots are limited, and permits can be purchased online at pts.colostate.edu/what-brings-you-to-csu.
- University policy requires computer systems to have current operating systems, patches & updates.
- Windows, Apple, Macintosh, or Unix/Linux operating systems are allowed.
- Windows computers are required to have current anti-virus software.
- Residents are strongly encouraged to purchase renters insurance. A renters insurance policy covers your personal possessions, such as your computer & other electronics, clothing, and school supplies from loss as well as other charges caused by negligence (for example, if you cause damage to the facility that also damages your neighbor’s belongings). Where applicable, a resident’s family’s homeowner or renters policy may provide full or partial coverage. Additionally, some car insurance policies have renters insurance options. Contact your insurance company for additional information.
- Do not ship or mail any items to your apartment before you arrive. We can only accept mail and packages for current residents. Items received for future residents may be declined or returned to sender.
- More information about living in the Graduate & Family Apartments can be found on our FAQs and Policies pages. Residents are strongly encouraged to reference these pages prior to arrival.

Requests for Bidet, Air Conditioning, and Washer/Dryer Installation
Residents with air conditioners, washers, or dryers to be installed in their apartments must submit a maintenance request at least 14 days prior to their intended move-in date for the item(s) to be installed by Housing & Dining Services staff. Due to safety and building code-related installation requirements, residents may not independently install any type of bidet or personal handheld cleaning device, including any water spray device to be used outside of the sink basin or bathtub/shower. Residents must submit a maintenance request for bidet installation to be completed by HDS Facilities staff, and residents will be charged $50 to their CSU student account for the installation. Housing & Dining Services Facilities staff are generally available to complete maintenance requests Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
What to Bring
- Keep in mind the size of your apartment when packing. All units in International House are fully furnished, and all furnishings provided must remain in the unit.
- Aggie Village Family and University Village 1500, 1600, and 1700 apartments are unfurnished. CSU has partnered with Cort Furniture Rental. Residents can rent furniture during their time at CSU. This service provides delivery and pick-up, straight to your apartment. Residents can also find many options at secondhand furniture stores in town, like Goodwill, ARC, or Habitat ReStore.
- Consider bringing the following:
- Linens
- Toiletries
- Hair dryer
- Kitchenware
- Dishes
- Pots and pans
- Small appliances
- Iron
- TV
- Surge-protected power strips
- Trash Cans for Bedroom/Bathroom
- In shared apartments, contact your roommate(s) prior to arriving to coordinate who is bringing what shared items
- There is no food provided in the apartment. You may want to bring/buy some snacks for your first night in the apartment if you arrive late.
- Apartment residents are also invited to purchase an Apartments and Off-Campus meal plan.
Move In Day
- CSU’s interactive map is a great tool to help you navigate campus when you arrive. Please be mindful of pedestrians, scooters, and bicyclists who also use the sidewalks and lanes. Please park in designated parking lots or loading zones. Parking enforcement is still active, particularly for vehicles in unauthorized locations such as bike lanes and emergency access areas. You may choose to purchase a permit, and hourly parking is also available.
- Check into your apartment at the community front desk. Expect this process to take about 30 minutes. If you arrive outside of these hours, please call the on-call staff for assistance. The phone number for on-call staff will be posted on or near the office door/lobby.
- Please bring your CSU or government ID with you to check in.
- All residents will receive a blue USPS address card to complete upon move-in. Please fill it in and drop it in the outgoing mail slot. This will start your mail service in your new apartment.
- Inspect the apartment and submit a room condition report to record any preexisting conditions. Please submit your report within five days of arrival, after which it will be determined that the apartment is in good condition. If there is anything needing immediate attention, please submit a work order or alert University Housing staff.
- Bring a moving cart or dolly with you if you have one. There will be a limited number of moving bins available for check-out on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Please dispose of packing materials responsibly at the waste stations provided in your apartment community. Fort Collins law prohibits throwing cardboard in the trash. See the CSU Waste Sorting Guide for more information.
