HDS

Sustainability Fund

The HDS Sustainability Fund was created to support environmental, economic, and social sustainability efforts within Housing & Dining Services and to provide a funding mechanism for grassroots sustainability initiatives and related education and outreach projects. For FY24, the HDS Sustainability Fund has $25,000 to allocate for sustainability projects. The fund supports resource conservation efforts through large infrastructure projects, as well as small-scale education projects to promote sustainability in HDS facilities. Funding can go towards pilot projects to “test” out new and innovative sustainability initiatives within HDS, and is not designed to provide ongoing or annual expenses. The fund can also support cost difference between standard and sustainability items (i.e. gas cart and electric cart) and enhance existing sustainability initiatives. Grassroots employee proposals are encouraged, and student proposals will be considered with an employee sponsor.

Project proposals are accepted year-round; however, the Sustainability Fund Committee meets approximately two times a year, near the end of each semester to determine funding approvals. Applicants will receive a notification on the committee decision after the Committee has met, and funding must be used by the end of the 2024 fiscal year (July 31, 2024).
