Clean and vacuum room(s)
Remove rugs from floors
Empty trash and recycling
Remove personal items from showers and vanities
Move all items away from radiators
Open radiators and set on low
Set thermostat to 68°F/20°C
Empty, defrost, clean, and unplug refrigerators/freezers (leave doors open)
Remove and dispose of perishable foods
Remove all items from bed loft shelves, if applicable
Secure windows and close drapes
Turn all lights off
Unplug appliances
Close and lock doors
Bicycles may be left in rooms (chained/locked to bed frames)
Padlocks are allowed on lockable drawer/cabinet
Consider securing valuable possessions or take them with you
E-scooters are prohibited inside our buildings and may not be stored inside during break periods because of the fire risk associated with the batteries
Complete the 'Before Leaving for Break' checklist found on-line at: myhousing.colostate.edu (after Dec. 13)
Contact your RA to schedule a check-out inspection to confirm all steps are complete
You must verify on-line that you have completed all the steps of the checklist. Your RA will also complete a verification to confirm your completed a proper ‘Break Check-out’
The completed ‘Break Check-out’ informs staff you have left and your room is ready for break
During break, staff will perform a required room safety check
If you are fully vacating and not returning to CSU in January, please complete the above steps in addition to removing all belongings from the room and storage, and return your keys to the front desk
Anyone wishing to stay in the halls over break must apply by Noon on Wednesday, December 16
Students needing to return early may do so from January 9 – January 13
Residents who wish to leave a vehicle parked on campus during this time should contact Parking & Transportation Services at (970) 491-7041 or parking@colostate.edu. More details about parking on campus are available at pts.colostate.edu/parking.
