Staying for the Remainder of the Semester

Students who registered for Spring Extended Housing are registered to remain in the residence halls for the rest of the semester, April 19 – May 14.

  • Room and board rates:
  • Room rates will remain consistent with current assignment rates, regardless of Spring Extended Housing assignments.
  • Halls will be open with limited staff on duty and available by phone.
  • Desk hours will be 7 a.m.–7 p.m. daily, excluding University holidays.

Dining Information

  • The Foundry is open for Spring Extended Housing. Please visit for the most up-to-date information.
  • Ordering ahead is not required and The Foundry will have limited dine-in seating.

Moving Out

Vacate Checklist

  • Remove all non-University property from the room, bathrooms, closets, vanities, drawers, and cabinets.
  • Return all University property (furniture, dishes, etc.) to its appropriate location.
  • If you rented a MicroFridge from Collegiate Concepts, Inc., you must notify them to arrange a pick-up: (888) 929-0806.
  • Clean your portion of the room thoroughly (cleaning supplies are available at your hall’s front desk).
  • Clean all writing, marks, and residue from walls, ceilings, and doors.
  • If you have any items in your hall’s storage area, you must remove them or they will be considered abandoned property.
  • Vacuum the carpet in and immediately outside your room, including under beds.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins to the designated dumpsters outside your hall (DO NOT leave in hallways, bathrooms, fire towers, lounges, or other common areas.)
  • Change your mailing address through RamWeb.
  • Notify your vendors, banks, credit card issuers, family, and friends of your change of address.
  • Cancel or change the delivery of any subscriptions. (Only first class mail will be forwarded for 30 days. First class mail received after 30 days and all bulk mail including subscriptions will be returned to sender.)
  • If there are any damages in your room that were not submitted on-line when you checked into the room and that you would like to discuss, please alert HDS Facilities staff by notifying (970) 491-7171. Environmental Services personnel will complete a final inspection after you have left.
  • When all of the above has been accomplished, return all keys and prox card/keys to your residence hall’s front desk via the labeled envelope posted to your room door.

Move Out Donation Event

Items collected will be donated to local charities and families throughout Larimer County, so please keep this in mind as you pack up your room! Masks are required and physical distance must be maintained at all times. If you cannot drop off your donations during the dates/times listed below, you can text (970) 236-6249 to schedule a time to drop off items with a volunteer (this must be done outdoors and you must be present).

Donation station locations, dates, and times have been updated below

  • Three Donation Station tents will be set up near residence halls for easy drop-off at:
    • Academic Village/Edwards parking lot west of the AV-Engineering building
    • Westfall parking lot directly in front of Westfall
    • Southwest corner of the Parmelee parking lot
  • Donation Stations will be open on the following dates/times:
    • (Friday) 4/16, and (Saturday) 4/17: 12-3 p.m.
  • Items accepted include: 
    • Gently used clothing and shoes
    • Furniture and small household items in working order
    • Bicycles in working order (with all parts)

Summer Session Housing

Students who wish to live in the residence halls over the summer are welcome to apply for Summer Housing at beginning Monday, March 22. You do not have to register for summer session classes to be eligible.

Dining Information

Dining Centers Close: Friday, November 22 at 2 p.m.
Dining Centers Open: Sunday, December 1 at 5 p.m.
On-Campus meal plans will be deactivated on Friday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. These will be reactivated Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.

Friday, November 22: 8 a.m – 7 p.m.
November 23-30: 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, December 1: 11 a.m. – 1 a.m.

Leaving for Break

Leaving For Remainder of the Semester:

Clean and vacuum room(s)

Empty trash and recycling

Remove personal items from showers and vanities

Move all items one (1) foot away from radiators

Open radiators and set on low

Set thermostat to 68°F/20°C

Secure windows and close drapes

Turn all lights off

Close and lock doors

Turn in your keys and prox to the front desk

Bicycles may be left in rooms (chained/locked to bed frames)
Padlocks are allowed on lockable drawer/cabinet
Consider securing valuable possessions or take them with you

E-scooters are prohibited inside our buildings and may not be stored inside during break periods because of the fire risk associated with the batteries

Not Returning for Spring 2021 Semester

If you do not register for Fall Break & Extended Housing and do not plan on returning for the spring semester, visit to complete and submit the Intent for Spring Semester 2021 form no later than November 20 (errors may occur if the link is accessed from a phone or tablet).

  • Residents who do not intend to return will need to completely move and check out of the residence halls by Saturday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. Keys must be turned in at the hall desk prior to departure.
  • Dining plans will be deactivated on Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.

  • Residents who learn after departure in November that they will not be returning to the halls for the spring semester must contact the University Housing office for details on move-out options between Nov. 21-Jan. 13.
