  • Residence halls close: Friday, March 10 at 10 p.m.
  • Residence halls open: Sunday, March 19 at 8 a.m.

Spring Break Mail Delivery

  • U.S. Mail will be held at the office of closed halls and distributed to boxes when the office re-opens
  • U.S. Mail will be delivered as usual to halls that are open
  • DHL, FedEx, and UPS do not deliver during the break

Leaving for Spring Break?

Late Departure & Early Return

  • If you need to stay Friday night, March 10 and/or return Saturday, March 18, you must apply and submit a Late Departure/Early Return Request Form on-line at myhousing no later than noon on March 8. Application available starting Wednesday, February 15.
  • You must also be out no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11 (for late departure) and cannot return earlier than 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 (for early return)
  • There is no cost for late departure
  • Meal service in the dining halls ends at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 and resumes at dinner on Sunday, March 19

When You Leave for Break

Please make the following preparations before you leave for break:

  • Clean and vacuum your room
  • Empty trash/recycling into the designated containers outside your hall
  • Remove personal items from showers and vanities, and flush toilets
  • All items are moved away from radiators
  • Radiators are open and set to low or thermostats are set to 68°F
  • Secure windows and close your drapes
  • Turn all lights off
  • Close and lock doors
  • You may leave your bicycle in your room (chained or locked to your bed frame)
  • You may put a padlock on your lockable drawer or cabinet
  • Consider securing your valuable possessions or taking them with you

Outta Here Door Hanger 

  • Contact your RA to get a door hanger once the above preparations are complete
  • You, your roommate, and your RA must sign the tag
  • This will serve to inform staff that you have left your room and it is ready for break
  • During break, housing staff will perform a required safety check in your room

Staying for Spring Break?

Housing & Dining Information

Anyone wishing to stay in the residence halls over break must apply by noon on March 8 at myhousing and receive prior approval for their stay. Application available starting Wednesday, February 15.


Open Halls
Allison, Braiden, Durward, Edwards, Laurel Village Alpine, Parmelee, and Westfall

  • Residents of these halls may stay in their current room over spring break
  • Prior approval is necessary
  • Daily rate of $35, which includes housing and RamCash to purchase food at Durrell Express or other campus vendors
  • Food will be available 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily at Durrell Express (to-go breakfast items can be purchased during these times). You may pay with credit card, cash or RamCash

Closed Halls
Academic Village, Corbett, Laurel Village Piñon, Newsom, and Summit

  • There is no admittance to these buildings, so take everything needed during spring break
  • Residents of closed halls may stay in temporary spaces in open halls for $35 per day
  • Prior approval is necessary
  • Rooms are assigned by priority as needed

If You Are Staying for Break

  • Halls are open with limited services; staff will be on duty and available by phone
  • Do not prop your door open or let anyone into the building who is not your guest
  • Hall front desks are open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily
  • The Palmer Center is open Monday - Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • All dining centers close for break at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, and re-open at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19
  • Durrell Express will be open 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily to provide a dining option

Parking Over Break

  • Parking regulations are enforced as usual during spring break
  • Be aware of lots and enforcement: www.parking.colostate.edu
  • Long-term parking is prohibited on city and campus streets during break
  • You will be responsible for any incurred parking, towing, and/or storage fines
