Community Desk Manager (CDM)

The Community Desk Manager (CDM) is a student manager position in the Department of Residence Life. The CDM assists in supporting the Residence Life Mission - “To create safe and inclusive learning communities that support, challenge, and inspire all students to be ethical leaders and citizens in a diverse society.” CDMs oversee the operation of the front desk in the residence halls and ensure high quality customer services to our students, families & guests; supervise the front desk staff; and are a part of the team creating an inclusive community within our residence halls. Community Desk Staff Member (CDSM)

The CDSM assists in supporting the Residence Life Mission: “To create safe and inclusive learning communities that support, challenge, and inspire all students to be ethical leaders and citizens in a diverse society.” CDSMs also assist in supporting Colorado State University’s Principles of Community. Finally, CDSMs support Residence Life’s Pillars: Connections, Leadership Development, Diversity and Social Justice, Learning, and Professional Development. CDSMs provide high-quality customer services to our students, families, and guests; ensure safety and security; and, assist in creating inclusive community within the residence halls.

Eco Leaders

Eco Leaders are students in the residence halls who help raise awareness about sustainability issues and encourage environmentally-responsible behaviors for an academic year. Each residence hall has one Eco Leader.

Hall Council

Each residence hall has its own Hall Council. Hall Council members are students within each hall who are committed to resident participation in leadership, activity planning, and decision making which benefits the residents and their communities. As a Hall Council member, you can also become involved with the Residence Hall Association (RHA) as a senator and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) as a representative for your residence hall.

Inclusive Community Assistant

The Inclusive Community Assistant (ICA) is a live-in student staff member in Residence Life. The ICA assists in supporting the Residence Life Mission - “To create safe and inclusive learning communities that support, challenge, and inspire all students to be ethical leaders and citizens in a diverse society.” ICAs are expected to provide strategies for, and assist residents and staff with creating inclusive communities, promoting Colorado State University’s Principles of Community, intentional conversations, peer mediation and support programming and collaborative efforts with Student Diversity Program and Services (SDPS). Leadership Development Community

The LDC is an on-campus living environment that is supportive of leadership opportunities, in which students take part in a wide variety of leadership initiatives, service projects, peer facilitation, and experiential learning.


The community is located in Durward Hall.

 

To apply to join the Leadership Development Community, (1) apply to the President’s Leadership Program (PLP) (http://lsc.colostate.edu/slice/slice-leadership/presidents-leadership-program/apply-for-the-presidents-leadership-program/) and indicate your interest in living in the Leadership Development Community (LDC), then (2) follow the instructions of the online housing application, indicating "Durward Hall-LDC" as your first choice.  If participating in room selection, you will be notified when you can select a space. Housing in the LDC is open to prospective incoming first year students and second year students who have not participated in the LDC before.

NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary)

NRHH is a national honor society that recognizes the top 1% of student leaders in the residence halls who value recognition and service and promotes leadership development and student success

NRHH representatives of each Hall Council are elected to connect residents to service, recognition, scholastics, and leadership opportunities within the campus community. Each semester applications are accepted from students living in the residence halls who wish to be inducted.

RHA (Residence Hall Association)

RHA is a leadership opportunity for all students living in the residence halls that encompasses opportunities available through the Hall Council program. RHA's mission is to seek out and motivate emerging leaders within the halls, and to create strong communities in each hall through programming, conferences, retreats, and more. RHA also supports first-year students during their transition to CSU.

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) play a vital role in developing and maintaining an atmosphere of academic, personal, and social growth in the residence halls. RAs assist students with the transition to college, serving as mentors and friends during the academic year. RA Selection begins in October of every year.

Residence Life offers employment opportunities in the residence halls. This is a great way for students to meet people, gain valuable skills, and give back to the community. Hall desk assistant positions are available year-round and additional positions are available in the summer.
