Q: Why don't my meals roll over?
Residence hall meal plans are weekly so unused meals do not roll over. These meal plans are designed to allow our on-campus students who live in the residence halls to better manage their meals each week rather than ending the semester with a block of unused meals. The weekly meal plans allow Dining Services to adequately plan operating costs. Without the ability to plan budgets at the beginning of the year and plan for staff, food costs, facility improvements, etc. we would have to raise meal plan rates.
Q: What happens to unused meals?
If, on any given day, some meal plan holders don't come in, our operating costs are not less, due to staffing and food costs. As a non-profit organization, board fees are reinvested into our facilities in the form of new carpets, equipment, renovations, etc.
Q: How do I change my meal plan?
The deadline for decreasing residence hall meal plans is two weeks after classes begin each semester. During this time, you can decrease your meal plan to better fit your needs. Meal plan increases are permitted at any time during the semester.

Q: What should I do if I run out of meals?
Each Residence hall meal plan includes 20 bonus/guest passes that can be used if you run out of meals. Additional bonus passes can be purchased with a minimum of five meals. Passes must be used in the semester they are purchased. Add meals at www.mealplans.colostate.edu.
Q: Can I bring a guest to the dining center?
Each Residence hall meal plan includes 20 bonus/guest passes that you can use as you'd like. Your weekly meals are not transferable to others, however, you may purchase additional bonus meals at any time, or use RamCash at the door.
Q: Can I cancel my Residence Hall Meal Plan?
All newly admitted first-year students without previous college experience who are single, under 21 years of age, and who do not live with their parents, are required by University regulations to live and eat at CSU residence halls for their first two consecutive semesters. Therefore, the housing contract includes both room and board.
Q: What's the difference between my meal plan and RamCash?
Each Residence hall meal plan includes $150 RamCash separate from your meal balance that can be used for eating at venues on campus, vending machines, laundry, and parking. RamCash dollars carry over from semester to semester. RamCash dollars carry over from semester to semester.

Q: When do my weekly meals reset?
Residence hall meal plans reset every Saturday morning at 12:00 a.m. At that point, all un-used meals disappear, and a new set of weekly meals will appear on your RamCard.
Q: I just submitted a meal plan change request – when will that take affect?
All meal plan changes during the week process on Friday nights at midnight. On Saturday morning, you will see your meal plan change on your Ramcard, and billing changes will process the following week.
Q: Can my friend/roommate get a to-go box for me if I am sick or injured?
Yes they can! Simply fill out the online form, send it to email@example.com, and then have your friend bring your CSU id to a dining center. Your friend will just need to show the mealchecker the electronic copy of this form on their smartphone or other electronic device (or bring a paper copy), and they will be good to go to swipe your card for a to-go box for you!
Q: I live on-campus and my parents are coming to visit me. Can they eat with me in the dining centers?
Yes! If you have a residence hall meal plan with us, you are welcome to bring your parents/guardians in to eat with us twice every two weeks for a complimentary meal – no meal swipe or guest pass/bonus meal required! Simply introduce your parents to the mealchecker when you come into the dining center.
Q: I have questions about meal charges on my Ramcard. What do I do?
I live on campus, and heard I can use two meal swipes per meal period. What are those meal periods?
On-campus students are permitted to use two meal swipes per meal period – we have 6 meal periods, allowing use of up to 12 meal swipes per day. Our meal periods (for all Residential Dining Centers) are as follows:
- Breakfast 6 am to 10:59 am
- Lunch 11 am to 2 pm
- Late lunch 2:01 pm to 4:59 pm
- Dinner 5pm to 8pm **
- Late Dinner 8:01 pm to 11:59 pm**
- Late, late dinner 12:00 am to 1 am
**Dinner/Late Dinner on Fridays/Saturdays are as follows:
- Dinner 5 pm to 7 pm
- Late Dinner 7:01 pm to 11:59 pm
If you want to dine with us and take a to-go box (to take advantage of the two swipes per meal period), you can come in, swipe once, and once you have finished eating, come back to the meal-check station to swipe for a to-go box (we don’t permit guests to sit in the dining center to eat with a to-go box).
